Travertine

Travertine is a type of limestone which comes from mineral springs, typically hot springs. Its design is fibrous or concentric, and its color is often white, tan, cream-colored, or resembling of rust. It was used by the ancient Romans extensively, including in the Colosseum. Since, it has been used in many famous instances. Now it is used on countertops, outdoor patios and garden paths, and floor tiles. Travertine can be polished so that it has a smooth, shiny finish.
